For a real conversation · Deliberate practice
Palette Draw
Deal yourself a hand of palette moves before a conversation you host — a dinner, a meeting, an interview, a call. Your job is to find one natural opening for each dealt move. Afterwards, come back, tap the moves you used, and log the hand.
What success is here
- Honest accounting. An unused card logged unused is a good rep; a forced move marked "used" is a bad one.
- A move counts as used when a real trigger appeared and you took it — the conversation was sprawling and you redirected; jargon landed and you asked the naive question.
- Noticing a trigger and letting it pass, then writing that down, is the second-best rep there is — that's the noticing skill being built.
Rules of thumb
- Two cards is the working size. One is a warm-up; three is for long conversations you're formally hosting.
- Don't force a move. If no natural opening appeared, log it unused — an unused card is information, not a failure. Your progress page will show which moves you never find openings for.
- Nobody needs to know. The game works fine as a private constraint at a dinner table.
